BIO

Mikah Berky is a multi-disciplinary performance artist who believes in the power of a good story. She was raised in the theater, which has proved marginally more useful than being raised by wolves. The daughter of a mime and an ethicist, she comes by her passion for storytelling and social justice naturally.

Fueled by curiosity and a determination to be a well-fed artist, Mikah studied both performance and technical theater, earning a B.A. in Theater from Knox College. She cut her teeth as a freelance artist in the scrappy world of Chicago storefront theater as a scenic painter and performer. There, she discovered aerial classes through Aloft Circus Arts and became hooked.

Her work fuses conventions of theater and circus to create compelling visual stories. Currently finishing her MFA in Advanced Theatre Practice at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, she loves innovative, collaborative methods of creating work.

She performed as part of Levity Circus Collective and has worked as an aerial consultant for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. An avid traveler and hiker, some of her favorite experiences are outdoor aerial projects, including being a part of Good Ombrés for Change, a high-line aerial silks collaborative performance and fundraiser on the Oregon coast.

Her suitcase is always packed.
